Brazilian Blowout vs Trissola Keratin Treatment
We offer both at Studio W Salon in Castro Valley, but what's the difference?
We get this question a lot, often followed by "which one is better?" and "which one should I get?" Brazilian Blowout hair smoothing treatment and Trissola's Restructuring Keratin Treatment are both popular services for achieving smoother, frizz-free hair, but there are some key differences in terms of their formulation, how they are applied and processed, and the results you can expect. Here are the main differences between the two treatments.
Is the Brazilian Blowout formula that much different than a Keratin Treatment?
Yes, actually. The formulation and its underlying technology is one of the main differences that sets these two lines apart. The Brazilian Blowout is known for its polymer system which creates a protective protein layer around the hair shaft to eliminate frizz and smooth the cuticle. Trissola’s Reconstructing Keratin Treatments are loaded with exotic ingredients to realign the cuticle to make the hair surface even and smooth.
Do they use similar chemicals?
Brazilian Blowout contains a solution with a lower pH that bonds amino acids to the hair shaft. It does not necessarily rely on formaldehyde, but some formulations may contain low levels of it. Trissola’s Reconstructing Keratin Treatments also has a low amount of formaldehyde and claims to contain the lowest amount on the market vs similar smoothing treatments.
Brazilian Blowout process vs a Keratin Treatment
Brazilian Blowout is often quicker to apply than most smoothing treatments and involves blow drying the product into the hair, followed by flat ironing to seal in the formula. Many keratin treatments have a longer, more involved application process. But not Trissola's. Their keratin treatment takes hair from dull and frizzy to smooth and manageable in just 90 minutes. So between these two lines, the application time is about the same.
Will I get the same results with a Brazilian Blowout vs a Keratin Treatment?
Actually, you can expect different results for each line, depending on your hair type and texture, one may be a better fit for you than the other. For example, the Brazilian Blowout provides more of a smoothing and frizz-reducing effect rather than a complete straightening of the hair. Your hair will maintain more natural movement and volume and you'll notice less dry time at home. On the other hand, the Trissola's Keratin Treatment gives you a more significant straightening result, particularly on frizzy or curly hair. It will significantly reduce your drying and styling time at home.
Is the after care the same for both lines?
There is not much difference in the after care between these two lines. Brazilian Blowout generally requires a less stringent aftercare and you can wash and style your hair immediately after treatment without any down time. With some keratin treatments, there's a waiting period before your next shampoo (typically 72 hours) to allow the treatment to fully set for maximum results. But not with Trissola! You can wash and style your hair the same day!
Which hair smoothing treatment lasts longer?
With a a Brazilian Blowout, results can last about 3 months with proper care and maintenance. Trissola's keratin treatment will last for 3-6 months with proper home care.
Does Trissola cost the same as Brazilian Blowout?
We have the same starting at price for both of these services. The total cost will depend on length and density, which translates to how much product we need and the amount of time it will take. Cost will also depend on which stylist performs the service. Our stylists work on a level based system.
